Gallery North – Stop by Gallery North’s First Friday open house and reception on October 4, 2-6 pm and visit with Showcase Artist Heather Fadness. Heather’s artistic ability runs strong within the Fadness family. Her journey has taken her along various paths of mediums: wire, stones, acrylic, watercolors, oils, sewing and beading. Heather says “it is my greatest joy to share with you, my art. My small triumphant joys.”
Featured artist, Mary Knox-Johnson will be featuring a new side to her art: poured paintings as well as illustrations done by Marion Caroline for Mary’s children’s book Thoughts from Pudge II (The Mentoring Continues).

Rail River Folk School – Come down to the Rail River Folk School on Oct 4th from 3-7pm and visit with several local artists who will be showing and selling their art. This month we will have graphic design art, acrylic pour paintings, star quilts, beadwork, birch bark art, carvings, one of a kind purses, Vinyl art, woodland style paintings, wood burning art, and more. Watermark Art Center – Watermark Art Center’s 15th annual It’s Only Clay (IOC) National Juried Ceramics Exhibit & Competition will open to the public on Friday October 4 with a reception from 5 to 7pm. It’s Only Clay submissions must be functional clay vessels. Work is judged on function, form, aesthetic, craftsmanship and surface design. The award recipients will be announced at 6pm along with a brief introduction by this year’s juror, ceramic artist Marion Angelica. The exhibit will be on display October 4 through December 21.
In conjunction with the 2019 IOC Exhibit, select pieces from the Margaret Harlow Vessel Collection and clay-themed Lille M. Kleven Print Collection will also be on display in Watermark’s Harlow|Kleven Gallery from October 4 – January 24. Watermark Art Center is located at 505 Bemidji Ave N, Bemidji, MN 218-444-7570.
Bemidji Public Library – The Library Wall at the Bemidji Public Library will be displaying and selling prints from local watercolor artist John Winter during the months of October and November. John Winter is an emerging artist from Bemidji. Winter is inspired by nature, with a history of working in park service for over 40 years. His primary subjects focus on nature, painting and recreation. The library is located at 509 America Ave NW, Bemidji, MN 56601
Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse – Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse will present “Beautify”, new works by ceramist Cyrus Swann, October 4th through the month of December. Merging media to create visual and spatial harmony, Cyrus makes a wide range of functional and experimental ceramic work, including bowls, bottles, groupings, sculpture and installations. A 2002 graduate of Bemidji State University in fine arts, Cyrus has been working clay professionally for 17 years and has established his studio in his home town of Pine River, MN. His well-crafted pottery is intended for daily use and will last a lifetime!
