Neilson Place presents a photography display of “Nature of the North” by George Brook beginning July 4, 2019 and continuing to October 31, 2019.  Brook is a self-taught landscape and nature photographer.  The majority of his photos are captured in his home area of Northern Minnesota – an area consisting of a variety of forest areas, many lakes, rivers and a variety of wildlife. There will not be an opening reception, but the public can view the photos during business hours, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Neilson Place is located on the Sanford WoodsEdge campus, 1000 Anne Street NW.

Gallery North – Stop by Gallery North’s First Friday open house on July 5th, 2-6 pm and visit with Showcase Artist Robert Panther. Panther began photographing in his early teen year with an old Kodak 35mm camera, a hand held light meter, and a roll of Kodak Pan-X black and white film. View his photographic celebration of nature featuring the love of the outdoors and the love of photography. Panther’s work has earned awards both regionally and locally and several have been published. Two of his photos from Quetico Provincial Park have been used in the Heart of the Continent Partnership's website, a joint Canadian/American geotourism project and partners with the National Geographic Society. Gallery North’s Featured Artist is Kaia Edlund. Edlun’s’s mother taught her the art of Wychinanki Paper Cutting in the Polish style. This is a very colorful and detailed art form. She also paints with acrylic paints, again using lots of color. Her paintings are abstracts of landscapes, horses, dogs, cats and wild animals using bright colors. Stop by Gallery North’s First Friday reception July 5th from 2-6 pm. Gallery North is located at 310 4th St NW.

Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse will present the photography of Dan Gartrell through the month of July. Gartrell has turned a lifelong interest in photography into his hobby business “Pretty Good Outdoor Photos”, capturing striking landscape and lakescape vistas, close-ups of butterflies and other wildlife, and plants and flowers--especially ladyslippers.  Gartrell is a Professor Emeritus at Bemidji State University.
Come to Wild Hare for the opening reception on First Friday, July 5th, from 3 – 5 pm. Wild Hare is located at 523 Minnesota Ave.
