Scholarships and volunteering opportunities are available, and no one will be turned away. We recognize that the indigenous peoples of Turtle Island (“North America”) are the rightful occupants of this land and have a pre-existing right to be at the conference. Therefore, people who self-identify as indigenous are not asked to pay registration fees for the Overcoming Racism conference. We do ask that everyone register for planning purposes. The conference will begin with a morning welcome, followed by a livestreamed keynote from Joe Feagin and Winona LaDuke. The day will include local breakout sessions on topics such as: “White Ally Tool Kit,” “Colored Lines: Diversity in Itasca, video and discussion,” “Historical Trauma,” “Indigenous Worldview,” “Using the Intercultural development Inventory,” “Anti-Bias Education: A Tool for Dismantling White Supremacy in Education,” “Rural funding issues,” “White Body Trauma,” and more. Breakout sessions will be followed by a community panel, sharing insight about the conference, and hopes for the future. Taco bar lunch and CEU's available.
