The Mask and Rose Women's Theater, the League of Women Voters and Beltrami County Historical Society start os a year long commemoration of Sunday August 18 2019 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in the US (August 18, 1920). The celebration. to be held at the History Center from 2:00-4:00 PM. will include living sculpture actors portraying those active with suffrage work (Alice Paul, Claire Ueland, Harriet Duncan Hobart, sufffraGENT ally Sinclaire Lewis and other big guns of the movement)
Daughters, mothers, and male allies can take part in a costumed Suffragette Re-enactment March around the Depot with music and speeches. Songs from the era with live piano accompaniment will be performed and the movie "Suffragette" will be screened.
The cost is $10. per person with suffragette sash included. Children are free. There will be a pre-event gathering on August 13th from 5:00 - 6:30 PM for sign making and costume creation for the Suffragette March. Please call the Mask & Rose Women's Theater at 218-760-2211 for additional information
