Celebrating Americana: A Musical Review!

Join Headwaters Music & Arts and the Beltrami County Historical Society on Saturday, October 3rd at the historic Saum Consolidated School for a day celebrating local history, community, and American music 

The day will feature local artisans, food vendors, historical programming, and opportunities to explore the historic Saum schools. Then at 2 PM, Headwaters Music & Arts presents Celebrating Americana: A Musical Review— an acoustic, narrated program tracing 250 years of American history through the songs people wrote while they were living it. 

 Featuring musicians from Headwaters Music & Arts, including the First City Singers, Thomas Barrett, Mauro Gutierrez, Megan Moen, Mike Naylor, Tamra Ragan, Steve Reznicek, and Mary Thoreson, with narration by Emily Thabes. Red Lake Nation artist Thomas Barrett will also perform his original piece, The Seven Teachings.

The Beltrami County Historical Society works to collect, preserve, and share the history of the people, land, and stories of Beltrami County. Headwaters Music & Arts provides opportunities for creativity through instruction and works to inspire community through music and the arts. Both organizations are committed to creating opportunities for people to learn, connect, and engage with their community.

Celebrating Americana: A Musical Review is part of the national America250 commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a grant from the Bemidji Area Arts Endowment.
